Trion Volleyball Update

Trion High School Volleyball is coached by Coached by Kelbie Williams, Matthew Swanson, and Liz Lindsey.

Coach Williams is from Rock Spring, Georgia. After graduating high school, she attended Emmanuel University where she completed her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology. While pursuing this degree, Williams also was a three-sport athlete competing in volleyball, cross country, and women’s lacrosse. After receiving her degree, she worked in the medical field for three years.

“Last spring, I knew that I wanted to change my career to education but I was not sure where to start,” Coach Williams said. “I saw this position open and I knew it was where I needed to be.”

Along with coaching volleyball, Williams is  also a special education teacher in the high school. While she has close to 10 years of experience in volleyball both as a player and mentor, this is the first position she has as head coach.

When asked how the season is going thus far, Coach Williams said: “This season has had its challenges due to some injuries, a difficult schedule, and a lot of changes. Coming in as a new coach to a young program, I knew that I was going to have to ask a lot from these girls and I wasn’t sure how they would respond. They have bought into what myself and the rest of the coaching staff are trying to build. With that being said, I am excited to start region play and see how far we can go. These girls have worked hard and are prepared. This year can definitely be a turning point for this team and the program as a whole.”

“This program is changing and I cannot thank the community of Trion enough for supporting and encouraging not only the team but also myself,” Williams said.
