Coach Garrett Brown’s reflections on the Bulldogs girls basketball team’s journey are based on dedication, resilience, and shared accomplishments. His words are full of pride and gratitude as he recounts the remarkable achievements of his team. He speaks as a Coach and as 2-3’s Dad.

“I’ve watched these girls grow up, literally,” Coach Brown reminisces, underscoring the profound bond he shares with his players. “From elementary to high school, and they’ve been successful at anything they’ve done, whether it’s softball, basketball, tennis, the classroom, you name it.”‘

The coach’s admiration for his team extends beyond sports. “They’re good people as well,” he emphasizes.

For Coach Brown, the season “was an amazing ride.” Recalling the exhilarating experiences shared by the team. “From the Gatlinburg Christmas Tournament and having fun in the mountains to winning the regional championship and notching 20 wins…”

…to taking the Region Championship trophy into Waffle House for a celebration meal.

The pinnacle of their journey came in the Sweet Sixteen against Athens Christian—a test of character and resilience. “The girls playing their butts off against Athens Christian,” Coach Brown said, acknowledging the team’s unwavering determination in the face of formidable opposition. Although the season would end with the final buzzer, Coach Brown said about his team: “They give you everything they’ve got, practice or game; they’ve made being a coach easy.”

“I couldn’t have asked for a better group,” he states, acknowledging the invaluable contributions of the players, parents, community members, and coaching staff.

Coach Brown said, “this was probably one of the best sporting seasons I’ve ever been a part of.” His contributions did not go unnoticed, and he was selected as the Region Coach of the Year.
