Last Friday a ceremony was held to recognize senior Scottie Frazier signing with Reinhardt University in Waleska, Georgia where he will be a member of the wrestling team. Family and teammates joined him to celebrate this momentous event.
This will be Reinhardt’s first wrestling team ever, and they will be wrestling in the NAIA college division.
Scottie has wrestled for Trion High School his entire high school career. He was an individual state qualifier for 3 years. He placed 4th his junior year and was state runner-up his senior year.
Scottie visited Reinhardt and talked to the athletic director, who told him they were forming a wrestling team. After the coach was hired, Scottie received an email asking him to be a part of their new team.
At the ceremony, THS Wrestling Coach Eric Brock described the improvement and successes Scottie achieved as a member of the Bulldog wresting team, saying, “We’ve got to watch him grow over the years. He has helped this team earn and accomplish so much. He is a fine young man and will do well in his future.”
Scottie has also been a valued member of the THS Tennis Team and has helped them advance in the state playoffs the last years. Tennis Coach Howard Hughes described him by saying, “He is a great player. He has committed whole heartedly to help our team get to the playoffs.”
THS Tennis Coach Connie Gentry added, “I am so proud to see how much Scottie has grown. His class voted him Most Dependable, so they also saw how he has grown and matured.”
Scottie has also been talking to the tennis coach at Reinhardt, and hopes to be a part of their tennis team as well.
