Trion High School’s football standout, Toby Maddux, will sign his scholarship to continue his academic and football career with Reinhardt University tomorrow, March 6, at 10 a.m. in the THS gym lobby.
“Toby has had a huge impact on our program, both on and off the field.” Bulldog Head Coach Sean Patrick said.
On the field, Maddux’s records and accolades speak for themselves.
- 390 carries
- 3,408 rushing yards
- 57 rushing touchdowns
- a staggering 8.74 yards per carry
- 66 receptions
- 902 receiving yards
- four receiving touchdowns
- 13.67 yards per carry
- 33 passing yards
- 201 tackles
- two sacks
- 13 TFLs
- 8 INTs
“I’m so glad our underclassmen got to see his work ethic, commitment, preparation, etc. These attributes help build the culture of our football program. He has left a remarkable legacy at Trion High School,” Patrick said.
Maddux had several offers but decided Reinhardt University was the right fit for him. “The coach’s staff is awesome. All of them welcomed me and greeted me when I got on campus. I also got to go on a game day visit and was very impressed with the team,” Maddux said.
Of course, going from high school ball to college ball is a learning curve. “The transition won’t be easy, but I’m going to go into it just like I did when I was a freshman in high school. The tempo of the entire game is going to be much faster. However, I believe I’ll have the coaches to help get me to where I need to be to compete at the collegiate level,” Maddux said.
“Toby is an incredible young man. I’m so blessed to have had the opportunity and privilege to coach him for the past four years. I’m so proud of him and can’t wait to see him compete at the next level,” Patrick said.
Reinhardt University is a private university in Waleska, Georgia.
