Scoring 1,000 points is an outstanding achievement for any high school basketball player. Such a momentous feat happened for Isaiah Foster tonight early in the first quarter in the contest with the hosting Armuchee Indians. Even though the occasion happened on an away court, Coach Jared Groce took a moment to recognize this exemplary student athlete and the crowd, ready with signs, went wild.
It is hard not to cheer for this quiet, well-mannered young man. Foster is an all-around student athlete with a 3.9 GPA. Recently he had his career high scoring game on the hardcourt scoring 31 points. Back in the fall, he had a career high rushing game with 264 yards. Foster succeeds in both sports because of his work ethic and the tremendous team surrounding him, trusting him to get the job done.
Anyone from Chattooga County knows the Fosters’. There are 5 of them, Isaiah and Isaac are the twins, Darion is the older brother, Faith Ann and Daysa are the little sisters. It is virtually impossible to not know at least one of them. They are a big family with a lot of love for one another. The boys have given Chattooga County sports fans something to cheer about since they were in the rec league and the stands were packed tonight to celebrate another milestone.
Tiffany, the Fosters’ mom, reflected on Isaiah’s success tonight “one thing is for sure, he has always had a love for basketball.”
