Chattooga Wrestling hosted the Area tournament in the new gym, according to Coach Brian Beasley, “one referee said it was one of best tournaments he had been to. The facility is great place to host, but the volunteers made it go. Nothing but compliments were heard about the everyone involved, table workers, hospitality room, concessions…you name it.” There is a lot of work goes into hosting a tournament with ten teams, the new gym was a perfect facility to have it in and the volunteers came out in full force to make sure it was a success.
Chattooga had six wrestlers place high enough to go and compete at Sectionals. Alternate at 126-JJ Roberts, 132-Darius Lawrence-4th , 145-Austin Kiser-4th, 160-Tyler Adams-3rd , 182-Efrain Hernandez 3rd , 195-Austin Jones-2nd , and 285-Dustin Pope-3rd.
Qualifying six is a big improvement for the Indians, last year they only had one qualify for Sectionals. Coach Beasley commented, “the kids turned the corner the last 3 weeks and have been working hard at practice, hoping momentum carries over this weekend as we get ready for state.”
