Winter Weather Advisory Issued, Chattooga County Schools be closed Tuesday, December 1

Chattooga Schools Superintendent Jared Hosmer said that after consulting with our local EMA and looking at the latest forecast from the National Weather Service, the Chattooga County School System will have a distance learning day on Tuesday, December 1, 2020.

Rain will mix with and change to snow across far north Georgia on this afternoon and overnight. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for portions of far north and northeast Georgia from 5 PM this afternoon until 7 AM Tuesday morning. Total snow accumulations of up to two inches in the higher elevations of Murray, Fannin and Gilmer. A half up to one inch expected elsewhere in the advisory. Slippery road conditions could impact morning or evening commutes.

Attached is the Chattooga County School’s short-term closure plan for distance learning days.

Weather permitting, all 12-month employees will report at 10:00 a.m.
