Meltdown: The Infection Spreads and Only the Marching Indians Can Save Us

Competition season for the Chattooga Marching Indian Band officially began on Saturday, September 26, as they traveled to Deatsville, Alabama, to compete in the Camellia Marching Band Festival. Held at Marbury High School, this contest is a first long trip away from home for many of the Indian Band’s first-year marchers.

Typically, temperatures currently are still in the high 90s, but students boarded buses to a cool 62 degrees and by the time the band took the competition field at 5:30 p.m. Central Standard Time. The early winds of fall were a welcome change from the scorching heat of South Alabama that has often been a constant for the band when they perform.

During the awards portion of the evening, the Chattooga Marching Indian Band, drum major, percussion, and color guard earned Superior and Excellent ratings.

Saturday, October 3, the Marching Indians will head to South Georgia to compete in the Sound of Silver Marching Invitational, held at Pierce County High School in Blackshear, Georgia. This will be another exciting trip for first-time band students, as it will be an overnight trip with activities planned for Sunday before the band returns home.
