Man shoots at people in Trion

On 7/25/23, at approximately 1 pm, Chattooga 911 received a call regarding a male who had shot at multiple subjects while he was standing in the roadway on Airport Road in Trion. The individuals were not hit but the residence was hit by the shots.

Investigators found that the male shooter, identified as 27-year-old Rodney Cameron Wyatt Jr., was walking down Airport Road with a shotgun and yelled profanities at the two subjects before lifting up a shotgun and opening fire at the two.

After speaking with both parties, it appears the shooting stemmed from an ongoing domestic dispute amongst family members.

Rodney Cameron Wyatt Jr. was arrested at his nearby residence and charged with the following:

Possession of firearm by convicted felon

Possession of firearm during the commission of a crime

2 counts of aggravated assault

Discharge of gun near public highway

Criminal damage to property 2nd degree
