Georgia law (O.C.G.A. 40-6-248.1) clearly states no vehicle shall be driven or moved on any public road unless such vehicle is constructed or loaded or covered so as to prevent any of its load from dropping, escaping or shifting in such a manner as to:

(1) Create a safety hazard; or
(2) Deposit litter on public or private property while such vehicle is on a public road.

Starting April 7th, Walker County Code Enforcement officers will be issuing warnings when they encounter unsecured or uncovered loads. Warnings will transition to citations on May 1st with progressive penalties for repeat offenders.

Offenders will be cited to Walker County Magistrate Court where they will face a fine ranging from $100 to $1,000 and may be sentenced up to 60 days in the Walker County Detention Center.
