Larry “JR” Greeson, 57, of the Plainview Community, died Saturday, February 13, 2021 after several weeks of declining health. He was born on September 7, 1963 in Warner Robbins, Georgia to Shirley and the late Larry Wilson Greeson Sr. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Emory and Ioma “Mama D” Ruddell Dilbeck and Don and Bertha Dempsey. Larry was a member of Plainview Baptist Church. After graduating from Calhoun High School in 1981, Larry proudly served in The United States Air Force. He was an entrepreneur who owned his own business. He also consulted with many restaurants, including Captain D’s. Larry was a well-known sports and activity photographer for many area schools.
Larry is survived by his wife, Michelle Mathis Greeson; his children, Kady Greeson and Kyle Greeson; his mother, Shirley Greeson; his brother, Greg Greeson; other loving relatives and many friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 15, 2021 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral home.
The funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at 2:00 PM from Plainview Baptist Church with Rev. Donnie Mattila officiating with a eulogy by Michael Farley. Burial will follow in Plainview Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Steven Williams officiating at the graveside. Pallbearers are, Spencer Bradley, Javier Hernandez, Jason Thomas, Zane Clifton, Cord Crider, Michael Bohannon, Brandon Mathis, and Brent Casey. Honorary pallbearers are Zach Kennigton, Rob Kennington, Terry Mulkey, John Luzzi, Monte Erwin, Alan McCormick, Steve Sanders, David Simmons, Dr. Suzzete Chin, and Dorian Johnson.
The family suggest that donations be made to Sonoraville High School Athletic Booster Club and to Gordon Central High School Touchdown Club in memory of JR.
