Home Run Tribute Ball Finds the Fan Who Needs it Most

Freddie Freeman has hit a home run on June 13th for each of the last three seasons. June 13th is the anniversary of the passing of his mother and the home run is a tribute to her. This year’s home run ball literally fell into the seat of Amanda Brown who lost her father six weeks before. “I just can’t believe it came to me,” Brown said. She was attending the game with her son Jace.

Atlanta Braves 1st baseman, Freddie Freeman, has hit a home run on June 13th for each of the past three seasons. This date is also the painful anniversary of the passing of his mother and the home run is a tribute to her. This year’s home run ball literally fell into the seat of Brave’s fan, Amanda Brown. “I just can’t believe it came to me,” Brown said, who was attending the game with her son, Jace.

“I saw it coming and I couldn’t get out of the way fast enough! There’s was no way I was gonna get hit, you know. When a ball is hit it usually goes to a crowd. It landed right in my seat,” Brown said.

Amanda Pettyjohn-Brown & Jace Brown was at the Braves game & we saw them on tv. 😂😂😂 Sorry Amanda I had too! 😀

Freeman feels his special home run ball may have had a little help over the fence from his mother, while Brown feels it may have found her seat with a little help from her dad. Just six weeks ago, Brown lost her father to ALS.

“I hit that really high. I know I hit it good, but I think she pulled that one over for me,” Freeman told reporters after the game.

Freeman lost his mother to skin cancer 18 years ago. Amanda Brown lost her father, Wayne Pettyjohn, exactly six weeks ago to the day, when the home run ball landed in her seat. “I’m having a hard time this week because of Father’s Day. Then I find out about Freeman’s mom, I really think God allowed this to happen. I know my Dad was watching, he was the first person I wanted to tell but my sister said, ‘Amanda he saw it’. I think it did both of us good…. me and Freeman.”
