Free Covid Vaccines Available at Fair

Chattooga County Health Department staff will be at the Chattooga County Agricultural Fair Thursday, August 26, and Friday, August 27, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., andSaturday, August 28, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., providing free Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for individuals aged 12 and older. Availability on Sunday, August 29, will depend on previous days’ demand.

 

The Pfizer vaccine  —  new brand name Comirnaty®  —  has just received full FDA approval for individuals 16 and older.  For individuals 12 to 15, the vaccine’s earlier Emergency Use Authorization by the FDA remains in effect, indicating the vaccine is fully tested, safe, and effective.

 

“We are experiencing some of the highest numbers of new cases and, unfortunately, hospitalizations that we’ve seen since the pandemic started,” says health department Nurse Manager Judy Wesson, “ and nearly all are in unvaccinated people.  Please get vaccinated now if you haven’t been.”
