Bartow County: Officer Involved Shooting

On July 16, 2021, the Aragon Police Department was involved in a vehicle pursuit and requested the Georgia State Patrol’s assistance. A trooper from Post 3 Cartersville responded to the area to assist and became involved in the pursuit. During the incident the trooper discharged his firearm striking the suspect. The suspect was transported to a local area hospital in stable condition. The trooper was not injured in the incident. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested to conduct an independent investigation of the officer involved shooting. The Georgia Department of Public Safety’s Office of Professional Standards is conducting an internal investigation.
