Judge Duke swore in Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Joy Hampton on Thursday, December 31st.
“I want to thank the citizens of Chattooga County for allowing me to continue serving them. I have enjoyed the opportunity to get to know the people who are Chattooga County, and have been so honored to find ways to make their lives a tiny bit easier. Curb side service has been very popular, especially this year, and I am thankful to those on my staff who happily step up to help our citizens. Through joint efforts with the Assessor’s Office, we have increased collection percentages by several points, and 41 properties that had been abandoned for decades are back on the books. Going forward, I will continue to work to increase collection percentages even more, and to identify the remaining abandoned properties. Today, I make the same promise I made four years ago: to never stop learning, never stop improving, and never stop working for my citizens,” Hampton said.
