Rome edges out Hickory 3-2, clinches series

The Rome Braves won the game, and clinched the series with the Hickory Crawdads in a morning game with Hickory on Wednesday. A solid start from Rome's Ricardo Sanchez kept the game within reach for an eventual 3-2 win. Sanchez gave up two runs in the bottom of the second, but that would be it. A big offensive fourth inning from the Braves put the game away.

The Shorter University Department of Athletics announced the hiring of Jessie Homesley as its new head softball coach Thursday afternoon following the resignation of Al Thomas earlier in the week. Fried strikes out nine, Rome shuts out Kannapolis 4-0

Rome starter Max Fried pitched six strong innings Wednesday night at Kannapolis, giving up no runs on two hits, striking out nine. The bullpen carried the shutout through nine, as the Braves beat the Intimidators 4-0. Carlos Castro had all four Braves RBI's, including a second inning homer, his eighth of the season.

Soroka has strong start, Rome Braves blast Lexington 11-2

Lost in the excitement of an offensive barrage by the Rome Braves Wednesday night in an 11-2 win over the Lexington Legends was a strong start by Mike Soroka for his team. Soroka picked up his third win of the season, giving up two runs on seven hits, striking out two batters and walking only one. Dalton Geekie, and Josh Graham combined to finish the game, holding the Legends scoreless an inning each.
