According to Bulloch County Schools, a Portal Middle High School student was arrested Thursday after an alleged verbal threat was made against the school during classes.

The school will continue to operate as scheduled on Friday.
The alleged verbal threat was made to a faculty member, who reported it to school administrators and the school resource officer. The Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office has arrested and charged the juvenile student.
School administrators notified PMHS parents about the incident earlier in the evening using the district’s electronic messaging system. Bulloch County Schools encourages all students to report threats or suspicious activity in a timely manner.
It is important for students and parents to know that the school district and local law enforcement take all threats seriously. Whether words are meant for jest or action, those who make verbal terroristic threats against individuals or our schools will be held accountable.
