In honor of the second annual Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) National Day of Service, Georgia Southern University’s Military & Veteran Services will host informational sessions on Veterans Affairs (VA) issues and benefits on all three campuses on May 6. The events are free and open to students, faculty, staff and the community.
“Hosting this significant event is only one example of how the Department of Military & Veteran Services and Georgia Southern University serves those who are serving, those who served and their family members,” said retired Col. George L. Fredrick, Ed.D., director of Military & Veteran Services.
A diverse panel of veterans will be on hand to discuss educational benefits and expanded health care choices with the PACT Act. A VFW-accredited service officer will also be available to help veterans navigate legal claims related to exposure to toxic water at Camp Lejeune.
All events will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the following locations:
Statesboro Campus • Military Science Building • 4526 Old Register Rd., Statesboro
Armstrong Campus • Student Union Ballroom • 11935 Abercorn St., Savannah
Liberty Campus • A live feed of the Statesboro Campus event will be available on the first floor of the main building • 175 West Memorial Drive, Hinesville
Light refreshments will be provided.
