From Georgia Southern this week:

After completing 13 full weeks of classes at Georgia Southern, the report below reflects that positive reports remain low, with a slight uptick to eight university-confirmed cases and 19 self-reported cases last week. As an institution of nearly 27,000 students and 3,350 employees, positive reports remain a very small proportion of our overall university population. While these numbers indicate continued effectiveness with our plan to protect campus classrooms, offices, and communities, we must remain vigilant with our adherence to public health guidelines if we want this trend to continue.

Georgia Southern diligently tracks and reports both university confirmed and self-reported positive cases to ensure timely contact notification and to mitigate the spread of the virus amongst our population. This report should not be compared to other institutions that report only confirmed positive cases.

OGEECHEE TECH

The College will only report cases which are self-reported by those within the College community, including employees and students. Positive cases are counted based on the date the positive case is reported to the College, not the date of the positive COVID-19 test.

EAST GEORGIA STATE COLLEGE

The numbers below are based on self-reports by students and employees. Positive cases are counted by EGSC on the day the positive case is reported to the college. In many cases, there is a delay in the self-report to the college and the student or employee is already in quarantine or may have recovered at the time the numbers are reported by EGSC. Similarly, individuals that tested positive but never came to campus, such as students with wholly online schedules and employees teleworking every day, are included in the reporting though they pose no risk to the campus community.

For the above reasons, the below positive cases represent numbers reported by students and employees and should not be viewed as an accurate representation of the current number of individuals with active COVID-19 on any EGSC campus.

While these numbers indicate continued effectiveness with our plan to protect campus classrooms, offices, and communities, we must remain vigilant with our adherence to public health guidelines if we want this trend to continue.
