Due to the expected local impact of Hurricane Idalia, Bulloch County Schools will be closed on Wednesday, Aug. 30, and Thursday, Aug. 31, for all students and staff. All aftercare services that are held in the district’s school buildings will be suspended as well for these days, as well as all athletics and extracurricular activities.
The school district will continue to assess the weather and the conditions of its campuses. Continue to monitor communications for more information. The next district update about school operations for Friday, will be on Thursday, Aug. 31 by 3 p.m. Your school will communicate about any specific athletic or extracurricular activities for Friday.
This decision was made after the latest information from the National Weather Service and the Bulloch County Emergency Management Agency. Bulloch County is under a confirmed tropical storm warning which means we can expect heavy rain of 6-10 inches, winds of 35-55 mph, and local flooding. Bulloch County Schools asks for your continued patience as it makes informed decisions based on information from public safety and utility providers about conditions across the county.
The first of Bulloch County Schools’ second series of public hearings about its 2023 millage rate is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 31, at 12 noon. The hearing will be in the boardroom of the school district’s Central Office, located at 150 Williams, Suite A, in Statesboro.
