A Statesboro man has been arrested for child molestation after an investigation that began in late June of this year. The incidents occurred approximately two years ago. The suspect, Charles Hammons, is charged with two counts of aggravated child molestation and remains in the Bulloch County jail.

In late June 2024, SPD detectives were notified that two juveniles residing in Statesboro had disclosed abuse which occurred approximately two years prior. Interviews were conducted with the juveniles and additional investigative steps were undertaken by detectives. The suspect, later identified as Charles Hammons (74, Blue Ridge Dr, Statesboro), was a non-family acquaintance of the juvenile victims. Hammons was subsequently arrested without incident by officers at his residence and transported to the Bulloch County Jail. He is charged with two counts of Aggravated Child Molestation and remains in custody pending further judicial action.
