Chattooga JGG hosts Special Prom

Jobs for Georgia Graduates hosted the Special Needs Prom at Chattooga High School on Thursday during the regular school day. The group has been organizing the special prom for the past five years. “We wanted to provide the same prom experience for students that do not normally attended the regular prom. We wanted them to have the same prom experience,” Chattooga teacher Kristy Colbert said.

This year’s theme was ‘Enchanted Evening featuring the Disney Princesses’. JGG students raised the money through fundraisers to host the event. The students were in charge of turning the media center into a beautiful setting for the Enchanted Evening. “The JGG students worked hard on it. We decorated for two days – but have been working on decorations after school for about two weeks,” Colbert said.

Through the love and acceptance the students at Chattooga High School gave the gift of prom to 14 students who otherwise would not have had a prom.
