Player of the week: Trion Quarterback Jarret Gill

Trion Quarterback Jarret Gill marched into the history books at Trion passing for a record setting 266 yards to beat rival Gordon Lee 42-14 Friday night at home.

Gill, a junior, was a perfect 12-for-12 for 266 yards and three touchdowns as he broke the school record for passing yards in a single game. Roone Gable had held the record since 1990.  That performance in the Region 6-A game led Trion (5-4, 3-3) to its fifth straight victory over Gordon Lee (5-4, 2-4) in Georgia’s longest-running annual rivalry.

Jarret Gill #5, spent 2015 throwing for 1,300 yards including 13 touchdown strikes. Gill has 1,060 yards passing this season with one game remaining this Friday against Mt. Pisgah. The game will be played at Sam R. McCain stadium with kickoff at 7:30.

From a physical standpoint, Gill has all the tools he needs to succeed, he stands 6’3” and weighs 185 lbs. Gill’s max squat is 335 lbs, max bench press is 200 lbs and he runs the 40 yard dash in 4.9 seconds.

Gill is an honor roll student maintaining a 4.0 GPA.

His top three college choices are the University of Florida, the University of Georgia and the Universtiy of North Carolina. Currently as a junior several schools have already shown interest in him including UTC, Kennesaw State University, and GSU.

“Jarret did a great job last year as a sophomore.  We’ve put some more on him this season.  He’s a cool customer and doesn’t get rattled out there on the field,” says Justin Brown, Trion Head Coach.gill

He is the son of Anjy and Stacy Gill.
