Fire Strikes Home of Local Teacher and First Responder

A residential fire broke out on Sloppy Floyd Lake Road in the early morning hours of Monday December 5th. The owner, David Rogers was working a 24-hour shift with Redmond EMS in Cave Springs as his home was destroyed by the fire.

David Rodgers has been in the Chattooga County Emergency Services since 1988 as one of the Gore Fire Department’s founding fathers. Later, Rogers served as Gore Fire Department’s Assistant Chief for several years.

Currently Rogers teaches construction technology in the CTAE program at Chattooga High school, while working as an EMT full time.img_2788

According to Summerville Fire Chief Robbie Lathem, “there is no known cause of the fire determined yet, we got dispatched at 3:44am and the top floor of the home was near fully involvement upon arrival.”

Redmond EMS will be accepting donations:

“Some have called and asked how we can help David Rogers with his devastating house fire this morning. Redmond EMS are taking donations for him so we can get him some immediate help. Contacts will be Cristy Reynolds Harris and Chasity Johnson Bridges. No donation is too small..”
