City of Claxton responds to Attorney General about violations

Following months of ongoing battles between AllOnGeorgia and the City of Claxton regarding open records requests, the City of Claxton has answered the Georgia Attorney General’s office.

Following several months of ongoing battles between AllOnGeorgia and the City of Claxton regarding Open Records Requests, AllOnGeorgia contacted the Georgia Attorney General’s Office in an attempt to have them force Claxton to comply with open records laws.

On April 1, the Attorney General’s office contacted city attorney Bill Callaway. He was given 10 days to responds to the inquiry and on April 12, 2016 he offered the above response to Deputy AG Jennifer Colangelo.

City Attorney Bill Callaway said the failure to comply was not intentional and the employees were unaware of the necessity to comply, despite the fact that AllOnGeorgia provided the statute and guidelines multiple times.
