This past week, Jesse Blankenship and Mrs. Laura Bryant were named this year’s Trion High School’s STAR student and teacher!
To be named STAR student is a big honor as it shows the student’s academic pristine, and excellence. The STAR is an extension of the rotary club, and is awarded to students whose GPA ranks in the top 10 percent of their class. The student must also have the highest SAT score of the top 10; once the student is identified they then pick a STAR teacher. The teacher is usually someone who mentored them and helped achieve their accomplishments.
Blankenship is beyond grateful to have made the requirements to be Trion High School’s STAR of the year, stating, “Achieving the Star Student title is a testament to hard work and dedication. It’s an honor to be recognized among the top 10 in my class and for having the highest SAT score. This accomplishment motivates me to continue striving for excellence in all my future endeavors.”
Mrs. Bryant serves as Trion’s business and AP US history teacher, and is known for her college-like rigor. She said,” It is an honor for the teacher to be chosen, and I am indeed grateful to have been selected by Jesse. He is a truly exceptionally bright star.”
In commemoration of Blankenship’s award, there was an honorary luncheon, where Bryant delivered a speech that was a true testament to his hard work throughout his high school career, and his academic and personal growth. At the luncheon, they both received the official STAR certificate, by the staff behind the STAR.
Way to go on your amazing accomplishments, Jesse! Your Bulldog family is excited to see what your future holds!
