The Joy of the Journey
Keep Your Eyes on the Prize
As Christians, we are called to live with purpose, knowing that God has a unique plan and destiny for each one of us. However, when you are in the middle of life’s challenges and distractions, it can be easy to lose sight of God’s vision for our lives. This week’s article will explore the importance of maintaining our vision of what God has in store for us and how we can stay focused on His plan through the power of scripture.
We must keep our eyes on the prize and our eyes on Jesus. The Word declares, “Looking to Jesus, the founder, and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before he endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2 There are several ways to stay focused: we can stay focused through prayer, reading the Word of God, fellowship with other believers, and having a personal time of worship every single day. These disciplines clearly allow us to see Christ’s direction and His purpose for our lives. It also shows us that God’s timing is perfect. Even when things may not go according to our plans, we can trust that God is at work behind the scenes, orchestrating His beautiful purpose for our lives.
Persevering in faith is a must to keep our focus on Jesus. “Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope.” Romans 5:3-4 As we face trials and challenges on our journey towards fulfilling God’s plan for our lives, it is essential to persevere in faith. By embracing the trials as opportunities for growth and character development, we can strengthen our resolve to keep pressing forward toward the vision God has placed in our hearts.
Last of all, seeking God’s guidance is a MUST! Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” When we seek God’s guidance and direction in all areas of our lives, we can rest assured that He will lead us on the path toward fulfilling His purpose for us. By prioritizing prayer and seeking God’s will in our decisions, we can maintain our vision and walk confidently in the direction He has called us. As we navigate the ups and downs of life, it is vital to keep our eyes fixed on the vision that God has in store for us. By grounding ourselves in scripture, trusting in God’s timing, guarding our hearts and minds, persevering in faith, and seeking His guidance, we can stay aligned with His plan for our lives.
