Atlanta-based performer and educator Eve Krueger recently gave a seminar on humor at Berry College.
Krueger is an alumna of Berry and The Second City, a Chicago-based improvisation company, the former home of celebrities like Steve Carrell, Tina Fey, and Amy Poehler. After she graduated Berry in 2002, Krueger has become a decorated performer, improviser, and educator in comedic theatre as part of Dad’s Garage Theater Company, The Annoyance Theater, Laughing Matters, Laugh Out Loud, and Improv Acadia, among others.
In her seminar, Krueger taught her audience of nearly 80 students, faculty, and community members how humor happens and how to make others laugh. Krueger’s engagement with the Berry College Theatre Company is a testament to the program’s impact on her and its efforts to enrich the Berry and Rome communities.
“Eve’s presence, words and interactions with the students speaks for itself,” Director of Theatre Peter Friedrich said. “More than an association with a big name, with a famous company, she’s someone who really knows how to relate and connect, which we saw happen right here.”
The Berry Company and Alpha Psi Omega (a national theatre honors society) hosted Krueger’s lecture as part of the First Look series, which provides background to upcoming theatre productions.
