It’s the first whole week of back to school. We’re sure you have encountered busses charged with getting their precious cargo to and from school safely, so it’s a perfect time to remind everyone to…
STOP FOR SCHOOL BUSES
Georgia’s School Bus Law:
Drivers in both directions on a two-lane and multi-lane road with a center turn lane MUST stop for a school bus picking up or dropping off kids.
Drivers traveling opposite the bus on a multi-lane road with a permanent barrier or grass/concrete median do not have to stop but should still slow down and drive cautiously.
Let’s be smart and think about safety!
Drivers, let’s be mindful and considerate. Use caution and share the roads safely with school buses, pedestrians, and bicyclists. And remember, always follow the speed limit within school zones.
* Students: Always use the crosswalk when one is available. Pay attention while standing at bus stops.
Teen (and adult) Drivers, a reminder-Georgia is a hands-free state. When driving, put the phone down and focus on the road.
