Chattooga’s Boyd participated in Jazz Honor Band

Landon Boyd recently represented Chattooga High School in the Georgia Music Educators District VII Jazz Honor Band.

GMEA District 7 Jazz Band is a prestigious group that is made up from some of the best musicians from the district. You have to audition to get in this group and they don’t take many people. District Jazz Band is made up of two high school groups a bottom and a top band. Landon was first chair trumpet in the top band. The whole concert experience is about 2 days. The bands only have a few hours in total to prepare for a concert. The night before the concert is the first rehearsal where some sight reading is done and we get a feel for the songs. On the second day they had to go bright and early for basically an all day rehearsal. At the end of the second day, we preform a concert which is always the experience of a lifetime.

Landon said, “This experience is really fun because you meet people who are passionate and talented at their instrument. I’ve done District Jazz Band for the past three years. I’m so grateful that I’ve got into this group over the years because I’ve met so many great people who are just as passionate about music as I am.”

Libby Ann Veatch is a talented and passionate senior at Chattooga High School who worked with the Indian Lore for three years. She is a member of the Lady Indian Softball team, Attack Fast Pitch, and FCCLA. After high school Libby Ann plans to go to cosmetology school and become a hair stylist.
