THS Reaches the Elite 8

After a rough start to the Lanier County series, the Lady Dogs bounced back and won the last two games; 8-0 and 7-1. Coach Jason Lanham reflected on the season, “after losing six seniors, and All-State pitcher Lindsey Shepherd, to shoulder surgery most thought this would be a major rebuilding season for Trion Softball.  Someone forgot to tell these Lady Dogs as the tradition continues.”

Trion  beat Lanier County 7-1 in seven innings on Thursday after a four-run explosion in the third, sending the girls back to the Elite 8. Lindsey Shepherd, returning from surgery pitched back-to-back complete games.

The Lady Dogs scored in the third on an error, , and a two-run double by Lindsey Shepherd.
Shepherd baffled Lanier County from the mound, striking out six batters. Shepherd allowed no earned runs on eight hits and two walks over seven innings.

Trion tacked on two more runs in the top of the seventh. The inning opened with promise for the Bulldogs as Josie Maddux doubled to bring in KiKi Evans. Maddux was followed by Gracie Burns’s RBI single.
