Statesboro Man and Juvenile Arrested in Entering Autos Investigation

While investigating a burglary on Herty Drive, Statesboro Police Department officers and detectives identified and questioned a 16-year-old juvenile male and an adult male, Eli Ellison, in the area. Upon further investigation it was found that the juvenile was responsible for a recent firearms theft and multiple entering autos around Lakeview and Market District on Brampton Avenue, and that he frequented Ellison’s apartment. A search of the apartment resulted in recovering stolen property from the entering autos incidents.

The juvenile was charged with six counts of Entering Auto and one count of Felony Theft by Taking, and transported to the Savannah RYDC until a court hearing could be held. Ellison was arrested and charged with two counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.

On 8/1/23, SPD officers and detectives investigating a burglary on Herty Drive identified a 16 year old male loitering in the area. The juvenile male, along with an adult (Eli Ellison, 25, Lanier Drive, Statesboro) also located near the scene, were asked to provide statements at SPD which they agreed to do. Subsequent interviews indicated that the juvenile was responsible for a firearms theft which had been reported and also a number of entering autos which occurred on 7/27/23 at Lakeview @ Market District on Brampton Avenue. Determining that the juvenile had frequented Ellison’s apartment, detectives later searched it and recovered stolen property from the entering autos . The juvenile was charged with six counts of Entering Auto and one count of Felony Theft by Taking. He was transported to the Savannah RYDC until a court hearing could be held. Ellis on was arrested and charged with two counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. He was trans ported to the Bulloch County Jail for processing.
