Three Arrested in Park Place After Two Stolen Vehicles Recovered

Three individuals were arrested Tuesday night on charges related to stolen vehicles. After responding to Enmarket on Fair Rd for a stolen vehicle and then locating the vehicle at Park Place Apartments, Statesboro Police Department officers discovered another vehicle that was stolen out of Bibb County.

Courtney Futch was arrested on charges of Theft by Taking Motor Vehicle, Felony Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Giving False Information. Lacy Waren Smith was arrested on charges of Theft by Taking Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Suspended License. Christopher Bernadeau was arrested on charges of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.


From SPD:

On 8/1/23 SPD officers responded to Enmarket on Fair Rd for a stolen vehicle report. The owner had walked into the store leaving the keys in the vehicle. An offender then drove away in the car.

Using Flock tag reader cameras, officers and detectives were able to narrow the search for the stolen car to Lanier Drive. A detective spotted the stolen car parked in Park Place Apartments . Officers surrounded the location and detained three individuals who were located in a car next to the stolen vehicle. Subsequent investigation determined that the adjacent vehicle had also been reported stolen to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office and contained a firearm. All three detainees were arrested and charged with a variety of offenses :
• Courtney Futch (25, Park Place Apts, Statesboro): Theft by Taking Motor Vehicle, Felony Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Giving False Information
• Lacy Waren Smith (33, Macon, Ga): Theft by Taking Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Suspended License
• Christopher Bernadeau (27, Macon, Ga): Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
