Teenager Dies After Accidental Shooting Sunday Morning, Another Injured

UPDATE 05/09/2023: Adan Allen Keelin, 18 years old, was arrested today in relation to the shooting death of 17 year-old Kelsey Amanda McDuffie in April. His charges are Involuntary Manslaughter – Felony, Possession of Firearm or Knife During Commission of or Attempt to Commit Certain Felonies, and Reckless Conduct. Bulloch County Investigators Arrested Adan Keelin in Relation to the Shooting Death of Kelsey Mcduffie

The Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office says 17 year-old Kelsey Amanda McDuffie was accidentally shot in the back of her head early Sunday morning while her friend, 18 year-old Adan Allen Keelin, was showing her how to disassemble and reassemble a handgun. McDuffie was flown to Memorial in Savannah, where she later died. Keelin was shot in his hand, and was transported to EGRMC, where he was treated and released. The case is still under investigation.

During the early morning hours of Sunday, April 16, 2023, the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office received a call from 911 Central dispatch that a subject had been shot and was being transported to the East Georgia Regional Medical Center by a “private vehicle”. Deputies and Investigators responded to the Emergency Room area of East Georgia Hospital in attempts to gain further information about this incident. Upon arrival it was found out that a 17 year old female (identified as KELSEY AMANDA MCDUFFIE) had sustained a gunshot wound to the rear of her head.

After finding out that the incident occurred at 1342 Arthur Nuburn Jr. road (Bulloch County, Ga), Deputies were dispatched to that location. Upon arrival deputies found out that an 18 year old male on the scene (identified as ADAN ALLEN KEELIN) also sustained a gunshot wound to his left hand. Preliminary investigation revealed that KEELIN was showing MCDUFFIE how to disassemble and reassemble a 9mm semi auto handgun. During this activity, the handgun discharged, while in the hands of KEELIN. The bullet traveled through KEELIN’S left hand and struck MCDUFFIE in the rear of her head. KEELIN was transported to East Georgia Regional Hospital where he was treated and released. MCDUFFIE was flown to Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, Ga. for surgery and has since succumbed to her injuries.

    How could it have shot her in the back of the head if the were assembling and disassembling

      I was thinking the very same thing. I don’t believe that story.
