14th District Republican Convention to be held in Trion

Organizers anticipate this event will bring as many as 400 visitors to Chattooga County and is expected to provide a short term boost to local business and eateries.

The Chattooga County Republican Party proudly announces the biennial 2023 schedule of political events, beginning with the local County Convention which is scheduled for Saturday, March 4th, 2023 at the Senior Center located at 184  Senior Drive in Summerville. Registration for the event will begin at 9  am followed by county preliminaries which include selection of convention officials and election of new party officers for the 2023-2024 cycle; addressing proposed rule changes and resolutions.  Slates of recommended leadership positions will be offered, however, nominations may be made by attendees. There will be a $10.00 convention fee for attendants. Cash or check will be accepted.

The County Convention will designate, whether by slate or floor nomination, official delegates and alternates to attend the upcoming 14th District Convention which will be held at the Trion School gymnasium at 919 Allgood Street.  This event is scheduled for April 22nd, 2023 to begin at 9 a m and is expected to include various regional leaders.  Chattooga County has been allocated 12 delegate and 12 alternate seats for this event.  Delegates will be seated first and alternates will be called forward as needed should delegate vacancies arise.  Convention fee of $35.00 will be at the door or online.

Local party leaders express strong desire to roll out a big ‘welcome’ mat to visitors. Hopefully, they will appreciate the beauty and hospitality of our County enough to come back and visit again.

The Georgia State GOP Convention is scheduled to be held in May at Columbus, GA and more information will be released as venue and speakers are confirmed. Chattooga County GOP has been allocated 9 delegate and 9 alternate slots at this event.

The Republican National Convention will be held at a later time.

The local Chattooga County GOP encourages patriots to become part of good citizenship and conservative government by stepping up in active participation in the political process.
