Chattooga Girls Advance to Sweet 16

How Sweet it is….

The Chattooga Lady Indians advanced to the Sweet 16 round of the GHSA State Tournament by defeating Pace Academy 62-29 Tuesday evening.

“We knew Pace wanted to limit us to 40-50 possessions in order to slow our transition and attempts in the paint. In order to increase our possessions we pressured the ball at every position on every possession,” Coach Alvah Beasley said.

“The team played with great energy versus Pace. We turned the page and refocused our energy and efforts on what’s in front of us.”

Sophomore, Makiya Parrish was the top scorer with 30 points in the game. “It feels great. My teammates also played a great game as well. 30 points is good, but taking the win as a team is even better,” Parrish told AllOnGeorgia.

Seniors, FaithAnn Foster and Ellie Martin each added 8 points in the first round playoff victory. Neveah Morgan contributed 7 points.

Coach Beasley said the game plan moving forward will be “to play with high energy, aggressive defense, and to capitalize on our transition opportunities.”

Chattooga awaits the winner of Union County and Callaway. They tip tonight at 6pm. Logistics for next opponent will be established tomorrow.

Casie Bryant is the NW Georgia Regional Manager for AllOnGeorgia.
