Bulloch Commissioners Cancel Scheduled Meetings

All meetings are canceled until the county and procure and test equipment to conduct meetings virtually.

The Bulloch County Board of Commissioners have canceled upcoming meetings until the county can secure the necessary technology to conduct meetings virtually.

The announcement came Tuesday ahead of the regular meeting set for 5:30 p.m.

County Manager Tom Couch said in an email that meetings are canceled until further notice because social distancing requirements cannot be reasonably met based on where meetings are held and the number of employees, commissioners, media members who attend.

From Couch’s email:

The reason for the postponement is to allow the Board of Commissioners to procure necessary and reliable technology to conduct virtual meetings that can be made available for public viewing and participation.  While the procurement of such technology can be performed promptly, proper testing, security, training and reliability may take several days.

The Board of Commissioners is targeting the functionality of such technology for the regular meeting on Tuesday, April 21, 2020.  The zoning case hearings scheduled for this evening which require strict public notice requirements are likely to be scheduled beyond April 21.

While we apologize to our constituents for the inconvenience, our paramount concern is to minimize or eliminate the risk of spread for all affected persons who desired or would be required to attend this kind of meeting.
