7-Day Railroad Crossing Closure on US 301 in Screven County

This may disrupt your travel pattens. Check the detour routes & plan ahead –>

Georgia Department of Transportation has announced a 7-day road closure in conjunction with railroad crossing repairs on US 301/SR 73 between SR 21/Millen Highway and Buttermilk Road in Sylvania. US 301 will be closed at the railroad crossing and traffic detoured beginning 9 a.m., Monday,  October 21 continuing through 9 a.m., Monday, October 28.

Ogeechee Railroad will repair the tracks and Georgia DOT crews will install the road closure with a detour in place as vehicular traffic cannot cross the railroad tracks during this work. Motorists will be able to access businesses, schools, and residences in the area up to work zone.

The detour routes will be signed as follows:
US 301/STATESBORO HWY AT SR 21BU:
Traffic will detour 0.82 miles eastbound on SR 21BU/Mims Road to SR 21BU/SR 73/US 301, then turn left.  Traffic will travel north on SR 21BU/SR73/US 301 for .46 miles to SR 73/US 301/N. Main St., then turn Left. Traffic will travel west for approximately 1.12 miles on SR 73/US 301/N. Main St.. where the detour ends.

US 301 at SINGELTON AVE.:
Traffic will detour 1.12 miles east on SR 73/US 301/N. Main St. to SR 21 BU/SR 73/US 301, then turn right. Traffic will travel south for approximately 0.46 miles on SR 73/US 301 to SR 21 BU/Mims Road then turn right. Traffic will travel 0.82 miles west on SR 21 BU/Mims road where the detour ends.

The roadway will reopen early if the work is completed ahead of schedule or could possibly be closed longer if weather delays the work.
