Senate Rules Committee Passes Senate Resolution 323 to Improve Caregiver Services in Georgia

On Friday, January 12^th, the Senate Committee on Rules passed Senate Resolution 323, sponsored by Democratic Whip Sen. Harold Jones II (D-Augusta). SR 323 would establish a study committee aimed at enhancing caregiver services throughout the state of Georgia.

Stating the importance of this committee, Sen. Jones expressed, “Family caregiving is a labor of love, and those who undertake this responsibility deserve our admiration and assistance. By creating this study committee, we are taking the first significant step in recognizing the challenges faced by caregivers and addressing their needs comprehensively.”

While the Rules Committee’s approval of SR 323 marks a significant milestone in advancing the cause of improving caregiver services in Georgia, it also signifies the initial phase of the legislative process. Sen. Jones furthered this sentiment, “I am confident that with the continued support of my colleagues in the Senate, we can successfully pass this important study committee. Our commitment to improving caregiver services will make a positive difference in the lives of countless families across Georgia.”

SR 323 addresses the urgent needs of Georgia’s growing senior population and over 1 million family caregivers. The study committee would be tasked with examining the role of family caregivers and their challenges.
