Lt. Governor Burt Jones highlighted the start of the new fiscal year for Georgia and several laws becoming effective on July 1, 2024.
“As we reach the summer, it is important for Georgians across the state to be aware that Georgia’s new fiscal year begins on July 1, and several laws impacting our daily lives go into effect,” said Lt. Governor Burt Jones. “Many of the state agencies that help with constituent issues across the state may be utilizing new resources, grants or financial assistance for Georgians. Along with new financial opportunities, many laws will go into effect impacting how we live, work and raise our families. I believe it is important for Georgians to be aware, informed and engaged with the work of their state government.”
Some of the highlights of the Fiscal Year 2025 budget include:
Over $6M to stabilize the statewide trauma network.
$6M for literacy coaches and initiatives throughout the state.
$3,000 additional pay increase for law enforcement to be added on top of the approved 4% raise.
Over $1M for a Sickle Cell Management pilot program to assist with an underserved population in Atlanta.
Over $16M for the provider rate increase for Georgia Pediatric Program (GAPP).

Workforce: Senate Bill 384 – Georgia As Model Employer (GAME)
Workforce: Senate Bill 399 – Coordination of Credit Transfer Between TCSG and USG
Certificate of Need Reform: House Bill 1339 – Addresses the repeal of specific CON requirements
Children and Families: Senate Bill 401 – Juvenile Court and Foster Care Reporting
Red Tape Rollback: Senate Bill 449 – Addressing Military Medical Personnel from Licensing Requirements
