Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger is pleased to announce that he will be hosting a FIN FIT webinar on Wednesday, June 18 at 6pm titled, “Shielding Yourself: Smart Tips to Prevent Senior Fraud.”
“Every year, thousands of Georgia seniors fall victim to predatory schemes,” said Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. “That’s why our Securities Division is working overtime to educate and empower all parts of the state to protect their finances and secure their future.”
Senior fraud affects millions of elderly citizens each year. These individuals, often targeted for their perceived vulnerability, lose significant amounts of money, property, and valuable personal information. The emotional toll of such scams can also lead to anxiety, depression, and a loss of trust in others, compounding the financial damage. As a result, combating senior fraud requires not only stronger legal protections and enforcement but also increased public awareness, education, and support systems tailored to the needs of older adults.
Join our webinar to hear from our panelists about the top scams targeting seniors and prevention tips to help protect you or your loved ones from becoming a target.
The webinar is moderated by Award-winning Journalist Donna Lowry. Speakers for this free webinar include Sean Deitricks, Counsel for the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Division of Enforcement in Atlanta, Georgia; Melanie T. Devoe, Director, Office of Customer Education and Outreach, Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC); Aaron Seres, Supervisory Special Agent and Assistant Inspector, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI); and Noula Zaharis, Assistant Commissioner of Securities and Division Director of the Securities& Charities Division at the Georgia Secretary of State’s office.
This webinar will take place on the phone and online, giving our participants flexibility to join on any device. There is a dedicated Q&A incorporated during and at the end of each webinar to allow participants to get their most pressing questions answered.
