House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) and members of the Georgia House of Representatives will host a prayer service for the victims and survivors of the catastrophic Texas floods and provide information about organizations and relief efforts Georgians can support. The service will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the South Wing Steps of the Georgia State Capitol.
“Our hearts are heavy for the people of Texas as they face unimaginable tragedy and loss in the aftermath of the catastrophic Hill Country floods,” said Speaker Jon Burns. “Over 130 families are mourning the loss of loved ones, and countless others are experiencing devastation of their homes, property and livelihoods. On Wednesday, the members of the House will gather to lift up those individuals in our prayers and let Georgians know how they can offer their help. When Georgia’s communities faced tragedy in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, we received overwhelming support from our neighbors and friends across the nation. Now it’s time for us to do the same for Texas.”
