GA Department of Driver Services (DDS) has a reputation for giving back to the community and recently partnered with the United Way to collect 300 pairs of new and gently used shoes for school-aged children in need for the beginning of the school year.

“The heart of DDS is about serving others, and we are very happy to contribute to children in need,” commented DDS Commissioner Spencer R. Moore. “Providing children with basic needs helps them learn in the classroom. Due to the generosity of DDS Team Members and the United Way, hundreds of children in need of shoes now have at least one pair.”

DDS solicited donations from Team Members statewide for only a few weeks. The number of shoes collected surpassed any expectations from the organizers.

DDS contributes to the community throughout the year in addition to the annual State Charitable Contribution Program. DDS has won several awards from the motor vehicle industry for community service efforts including Awards from the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) for providing luggage and totes to foster children in metro-Atlanta and for contributing to homeless veterans in the Chatham County/Savannah area.
