If you survived Summer vacation, but your driver’s license did not, remember this tip from the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS). Most customers are able to replace a lost license or ID by using DDS Online Services at www.dds.georgia.gov and most also qualify for a five-dollar discount.
DDS Commissioner Spencer R. Moore says in most cases, there is no need to visit in person. “Customers may replace a lost license and legally drive on the receipt until the replacement license arrives by mail. Permanent cards are also mailed to those who choose to visit in person, so taking advantage of DDS Online Services is the logical choice for driver’s licensing services.”
Most Georgia citizens between the age of 18 and 63 with a valid license or ID qualify for Online Services including:
• Renew or replace a lost license
• Replace a license after reinstatement
• Change an address
• Upgrade from a Class D to C
• View/Print a temporary (interim) license while waiting on the permanent card to arrive
• Upload a CDL Medical Certifications
• Upload a Vision Report Form for customers aged 64 and older
• Opt in/out for electronic notifications
• Obtain a free 2-year Driving History
• Purchase a 3- or 7-year Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
• Check for points on a driving record
• Pay Fees
• Validate your license status
• Submit applications prior to visiting a Customer Service Center
