Technical College System of Georgia Announces Over $1 Million in Funding To Support Apprenticeships

The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) announced the availability of more than $1 Million in High Demand Apprenticeship Program (HDAP) funds to support the development and expansion of registered apprenticeships in Georgia’s high-demand industries.

“The High Demand Apprenticeship Program has been a key driving force in helping business and industry invest in their workforce through apprenticeships,” said TCSG Commissioner Greg Dozier. “This year, TCSG has the opportunity to support the greatest number of apprentices and businesses in the program’s history, bringing the benefits of apprenticeships to communities across the state.”

Administered by TCSG, HDAP provides up to $50,000 in funding awards to selected employers to incentivize the upskilling of Georgians through registered apprenticeships. To date, this program has created more than 250 apprentices among 67 Georgia-based companies with an economic impact of $13.4 million.

The application for eligible employers to apply for the first-round of HDAP is open now through September 13, 2024. About the High Demand Apprenticeship Program (HDAP)

High Demand Apprenticeship Program (HDAP) provides direct funding to Georgia employers to incentivize the creation and expansion of registered apprenticeship programs in in-demand occupations. Formerly known as the High Demand Career Initiatives (HDCI) Program, HDAP represents Georgia’s first-ever state-funded apprenticeship initiative. Effective July 1, 2024, legislation was signed into law to update the program’s name from High Demand Career Initiatives (HDCI) to High Demand Apprenticeship Program (HDAP). Additional changes include increasing the apprentice cap from 5 to 10 apprentices, expanding priority to youth and individuals in adult education, and establishing the public service apprenticeship program component.
