One student will have a little extra help thanks to a scholarship from the East Georgia Alumni Association.
Charlsey Kelly, a sophomore at East Georgia State College, recently landed the first ever scholarship from the East Georgia State College Alumni Association.
Daughter to Jennifer Price Kelly and Demones Kelly, Charlsey was an honor graduate and the salutatorian for her graduating class in 2019 from Swainsboro High School. According to a news release from the school, Kelly was also a dual enrollment student at EGSC and became a 4.0 Correll Scholar and women’s basketball player once she became enrolled full-time.
Her goal is to get her associate’s degree in business at East Georgia and go on to finish her education at Georgia Southern University where she would ultimately like to major in accounting.
According to East Georgia State College:
The scholarship is open to a current EGSC student who is a family member of a former student at the institution (either at Emanuel County Junior College, East Georgia College or East Georgia State College). The student must be a current full-time student with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. The scholarship requires a short essay of 250 words or less answering the question, ” How has this institution affected your family?” Beginning Fall 2020, there will be an additional scholarship open to traditional entering Freshman from the EGSC Alumni Association.
