Rutledge, Barbee Medal at Calhoun Christmas Classic as Chattooga Wrestling Closes 2025 Strong

Godfrey's

The Chattooga High School wrestling team closed out 2025 on a strong note, competing in the competitive Calhoun Christmas Classic on December 27. Two Indians earned spots in the top four of their respective weight classes, with senior Bryson Rutledge and freshman Jaydon Barbee both securing third-place medals. Rutledge and Barbee showed resilience throughout the tournament, navigating tough brackets to reach the podium. Barbee, in his first high school season, fought through a leg injury but refused to give up. “I had fun during the matches,” Barbee said. “Even though I hurt my leg, I finished third.” Rutledge, a veteran leader for the squad, stayed focused on the process. “I plan to take each match one step at a time until I reach my goal,” Rutledge said.

The third-place finishes highlight the program’s depth, with an experienced senior and a promising freshman both earning hardware in the same tournament. The Indians will look to build on that momentum this Saturday when they host area duals at home. Fans are encouraged to come out and support the team as they continue their season.

Great job, Bryson and Jaydon
