Player of the Week: I’Ziah McCutchins, 1,000 of ’em

This week’s AllOnGeorgia Player of the Week honors brought to you by Jim Aaron’s Summerville McDonalds go to Trion Basketball’s I’ziah McCutchins. 

I’Ziah McCutchins scored her 1,000th point with a 3-pointer against Pepperell. The Lady Bulldogs defeated the Dragons, 54-30. McCutchins was the leading scorer with 20 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals.

“I was so proud to see I’Ziah get her 1,000 career points. She has put in a lot of hard work to get where she is, and truth be known, she would have a lot more points, but she is so unselfish with the basketball,” Trion Head Coach Garrett Brown said. “She is a true teammate in every sense of the word. I’ve counted myself lucky to be apart of her career.”

How many years have you been playing basketball?

I have been playing basketball for about 11 years.

Do you play any other sports? What positions?

I participated in AAU basketball and played Point Guard. I also participated in high school Softball and played Shortstop/Second base

Do you have a favorite team/athlete?

My favorite athlete is Kobe Bryant.

Do you have a favorite sport you play?

Basketball is my favorite sport.

Who is your role model and why?

My parents are my role models because they have always been there for me. They are my biggest supporters throughout everything!

What are your plans after high school?

I would like to continue my education and athletic career in college.

In ten years I will be in a peaceful/successful stage in my life.

What is something most people do not know about you?

Most people don’t know I started school really early and I’m one of the youngest in my grade.

What is the most important thing you’ve learned from your coach?

The most important thing I’ve learned is Confidence is key.

What’s your most memorable moment in basketball?

My most memorable moment from my basketball career so far was hitting my 1000th point.

What are your goals this season, as a team and personal?

My personal goal this season is to be consistent in every game. Our team goal is to win a region championship.

How do you mentally prep for a game?

I mentally prepare for my games by listening to music.

What’s the best thing about your teammates?

The best thing about my teammates is that they are always encouraging me and we push each other to be our best.

Favorite class/favorite teacher? GPA?

My favorite class is Coach G’s environmental science and my favorite teacher is Coach Worley.

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

You have to be confident and believe in yourself in everything you do to be successful.

Favorite food?

My favorite food is pizza.
