Trion Lady Dogs finish 5th in the State in Columbus at the Elite Eight double elimination tournament.
Here’s a wrap-up of the tournament: Trion lost to Glascock on day one 10-9, then fought back and beat Bowdon 2-1 in eight innings on day two. This was the 150th win of head coach Jason Lanham’s softball coaching career, “it was very special to get this win with this group especially at that venue over a team that was a heavy favorite to beat us and who had already beat a few other times in the regular season.”
Trion then lost to Telfair to be eliminated in 5th place. “This young group of girls played really hard and fought really hard throughout the year to get us back to the Elite Eight for the 3rd consecutive year, very few would have given this team a chance to achieve that milestone. I’m very proud of what this group accomplished and extremely excited about the future of Trion Softball,” said Lanham.
