Chattooga Middle School’s Jashiya “Moosie” Wooten Makes History with 100th Strikeout

Jashiya “Moosie” Wooten, an eighth-grade standout for Chattooga Middle School Softball, has etched her name into the history books. This week, she achieved a milestone that, as far as school officials know, no other CMS player has reached—her 100th career strikeout.

The impressive feat is a testament to Wooten’s consistency, talent, and leadership on and off the field.

“Moosie is a coach’s dream,” said Head Coach Suzanne Bailey. “She is a leader who puts in work, does what’s best for her team, and can always be found cheering very loud for her teammates. A wonderful example of a STUDENT-athlete because she not only excels on the field but in the classroom as well. A humble soul that has not only left her mark in the record books but also on her teammates and this coach.”

Jashiya “Moosie” Wooten’s pitching record at Chattooga Middle School is nothing short of impressive. Over three seasons, she’s pitched 84 innings, struck out 102 batters, and held opponents to a collective batting average of just .231. Her command has sharpened each year, with a dramatic drop in walks and earned runs, highlighted by her dominant start in 2025 where she’s allowed just one run and five hits over her first 10 innings. As the season continues, all eyes will remain on her as she continues to build her legacy.
